Please walk me through a typical day~

This week, we focused on diet recall, body languages, exchange list. I felt like a broken record at some point because all I wanted to know was what you had for that day with all the portion sizes, prep method... but couldn't get all the details without asking a million same questions like How do you like that? How do you prepare that? How much would you have? Using my fist/ palm as a reference, how much would you have? On and on and on!

The exchange list (a method to eyeball a diet recall) is really instilled in my mind now. I believe that everyone should learn this exchange list just to know how much you're eating. It's super practical!

I got some diet recalls from two patients and got some valuable and helpful feedback from my peers and preceptor. I'm glad to know that I continue to be doing a good job in having patient-focused talks and getting most of the details, even when they were difficult, I needed to calculate their needs. My preceptor said, and even I noticed, that I need to build rapport with the patients. I found it difficult because.. in such a short period of time and you want to do some small talks etc.. which I suck at it.

It's almost time to put the skills we learned in the past 4 weeks into practice in April.. before that... finals and spring break!
