Day 128: Skydiving
One thing crossed off my bucket list - skydiving! Next on my list is bungee jumping and scuba diving. We arrived at Seven Hills Skydivers at 8:20 and we waited for the plane for an hour. Sadly, we weren't the first ones on the plane. I guess the people have to test it out first before allowing us to do ours. In the end, Dixon and I went after two groups, so we didn't board until 12:30pm :(. After all, the wait was worth it!
I always saw these skydiving scenes on TV and wondered what would it be like. It was nothing like what I expected. I think it's because an instructor was behind me so I wasn't nervous at all. My heart beats were normal; at least that's what I think. The moment the instructor and I jumped out the plane at 10000 ft+, I arched myself to feel the free fall! Actually, the body would naturally curled/ arched back when you are free-falling! It was so cold and I couldn't feel my face and legs. It was very hard to breathe up there. Too much cold air and made me hardly could catch my breath (I was eating a peppermint too). I used this chance to look at the whole WI farmland (nothing too exciting, really...). However, the feeling like you're flying in the sky like a bird is incredible!! For once, I feel freedom, literally.
When the instructor opened the parachute, we went up for a bit and then came back down. I was nervous when the parachute was opened. My legs were just hanging there, and I was afraid I was going to drop... like straight down. The height seems apparent at this point. I just tried to look around and continue to enjoy the bird eye view of Wisconsin.
When we were about to land, we were moving towards the corn field! I thought we were gonna land in the corn fields... it's gonna hurt if I did! I didn't land well so right when my feet hit the ground, I fell back to my instructor. My legs were painful! I was glad I took this chance to do my first skydiving! I'm sure I would do it again soon...somewhere that's not in Wisconsin anymore!
I wish I could take some pictures when I was in the air, but sadly there wasn't any extra personnel able to help us take the video and pictures! Everything happened too quickly that it was hard to remember everything. It seemed like a blink of eye!
Mission accomplished!
