First week of Clinicals - SGA!

Survived my first week of MED 1 clinicals with a focus of Subjective Global Assessment (SGA). The purpose of MED 1 is for us to become more comfortable in seeing, touching and talking to patients. At first, I was very nervous like my heart is gonna come out! On the first day, we touched a sedated patient to get a feel of malnutrition. On the second and third days, we got to talk to different kinda of patients - some are very nice and encouraging, some are sick and not willing to talk for long... but for now, we didn't have a long conversation because all we did was SGA.

The day before evaluation, my preceptor said I looked timid and awkward and nervous. I needed to build my confidence and just pretend I knew everything (when I actually do...). It is comforting to be in a teaching hospital because the patients know that students will see them as well.

On evaluation day, my preceptor said I improved a lot by speaking louder and just became more confident! I was so happy and hope to continue to improve myself. I kept twisting my tongue with dietetic intern and nutrition lol. Just need to get things straight!

Haha funny story -

Preceptor: Oh Your necklace is an owl? That's very cute!
Intern 1: It's Chloe.
Me: Yes...(awkward)
Preceptor: Oh my gosh. You named your necklace Chloe?!
Me: LOL no. It's a brand...

I always laugh in my head just thinking of this haha

My preceptor kept saying I have this wtf or I'm not interested or blank face. She's like you need to stop sitting across from me and sit behind me lol. I found it funny. She said I need to do a fake smile lol!
