Interesting encounter

Funny story - I was in the Jewel Osco working on my rotation assignment which requires you to find food that are heart healthy or low in sodium (Took me an hour, but still not done). I never went to Jewels... I used to go to Trader Joes. This time, I went to Jewel Osco for the variety.

I was at the cheese aisle, comparing fat and sodium content of cheese. A random guy started a conversation.

Guy: Are you trying to eat healthy?

Me: Nope, it's for my assignment at school.

Guy: Oh what school do you go to 

etc etc etc

I slowly walked away to compare butter and margarine. He came up and said it was nice meeting you. Back to him! I was thinking, Oh Americans! Always making conversations with random people.

I went to the frozen food aisle, focusing on the food choices, and wanting to finish asap so I can leave and go home (It was almost 9:30pm...) I heard someone was behind me...

Guy: Oh you're still here? Is that your dinner for tonight?

Me: Nope... I don't have any cash on me (lol)

Guy: You know what? I should buy you dinner sometimes.

Me: Why....? 

Guy: Do you like sushi?

The guy ignored my question and kept going on... Lol it was a very interesting encounter! My reaction "Why?" really cracked my friends up. How would you deal with this kind of situation though?!!!
