moving on to oncology
Everything is going back to normal. My so-called month break was over a couple weeks ago. My sister-in-law's visit, diabetes camp, brazil and Canada trip are over. It takes a while to get used to being alone again, given that I've been with people for the past month. I really do miss my family, especially when all of them are now in Hong Kong. I miss being around a comfortable and loud (even in the background) crowd.
Right after Canada trip, I went right into my oncology rotation. I was not interested in oncology, but I learned a lot. I learned more about stem cell transplant and how it is like a new life and chance to so many people. I learned that after transplant, it is normal to feel crappy (neutropenic when white blood counts are low), but after a few days, when things go well (cells engrafted), you will feel a lot better and enjoy the new life. It is amazing how medicine can change people's lives.
Of course, I've also seen some cases where the treatment of cancer has caused more problems for the patient. You see so many cases in the hospital. You just learn to appreciate your life and yourself a little bit more. And learned that never take things for granted. Don't take the youth we have now for granted.
Can I describe my past month similar to stem cell transplant and neutropenic in a way?
