Day 172: Why...
On the way to class, I clicked on my rare iPhone app NYTimes. The first headline I saw was 27 Killed in Connecticut Shooting, Including 20 Children. I was so shocked and wanted to learn more about the issue, but I was late for class. I couldn't read it until now. Our TA in Comm Arts class mentioned it and was sentimental about it, telling us that there are always help, social support.
I'm not related to anyone in the shooting, but simply reading about it would still give me a sense of sadness and guilt. Of course, we always put ourselves first because in the end, we are living for ourselves. But just when you stop and think about the world, so many tragic things are happening at the same time while you're doing your exam or you're in class or you're studying for your exam. And we would always think why do such bad things happen? What's the logic and purpose behind a shooting? And all you could ask is why. And when you ask about it, things are already too late. After reading about the news, I got sad and knew that there are worse things happening in the world than screwing my exam last night and worrying about grades that are actually okay. Your big stressful thing to you might just be the tiniest thing.
But when my ego kicks in, I know that getting good grades now is still my job as a student. At the same time, that's when the guilt comes in. I feel bad, but there's nothing I can do to help the situation.
Pray for those who experienced the shooting and may those unfortunates rest in peace.
