Day 82: Day 26 in MOWI -- Confidence Booster
Today, by far, is one of the best days in my life. We had a group mocked interview with Sherry. Each person got 3 or 4 interview questions and then was critiqued by Sherry or the group. Sherry said my answers in the interview were spot on. However, I stuttered or couldn't find the right word because I translated from Chinese in English. That would involve a lot of practicing of course. By the end of the day, an interview is about selling yourself. The more you know about yourself, the more advantage you have.
At the end of the interview, we had a pep talk. We asked for the score sheet of our application for MOWI. The thing I was most worried about was my recommendation letters. Strong recommendation letters will help a lot for my application of D.I. Lilly said my recommendation letters were stella, at least one of them is! I read it and I am so thankful of my advisor for writing a great recommendation letter.
I was so touched that Sherry was able to point out things about each of us.
Some pointers I got from today:
- It is okay to tell the interviewer that English is your second language. Some of them will understand.
- Must ask questions and become the interviewer when they asked Do you have any questions for me?
- Always relate to the interviewer
- Do not ask to repeat question (?)
- Fit into the network
- Relate back to why I want to be a dietitian/ ultimate goals as a dietitian (when you can)
- How to handle a difficult situation >> common hard question!
- Always turn negative to positive!!
The intern dinner was very fun! We bonded so well and I totally showed my crazy side lol! I will miss them. It will be hard leaving such a great group :(
