Day 30: Thoughts

The presentation was a very interesting. Even though it was very explicit, it made me think a lot. Life is good or bad depends on how you look at it. Many bad things can happen, but it's your way of living and perspective that can turn all of these around. The speaker has experienced a lot.

Once upon a time, a baby boy aka Smiley was adopted into a Christian family. He has been dating this girl for a long time and finally they made love, and his girlfriend pregnant when he was 14 and brought her to abort the baby. Everything was fine until he went to college and started to try drugs and sex with anyone, everyone. He was then diagnosed with these sexual transmitted disease. However, he was afraid to tell his girlfriend about it, so he said the most heart-breaking words to her - I don't love you anymore. His bitter life doesn't stop here. He met and dated a another lady. When she told him that she was pregnant, his reaction was not enthusiastic nor happy; it was shocked. He said, "I am gay." When he finally recognized he was gay, he heard about HIV. At first he was tested negative, but actually he was positive (some error in the process). Then, he fell deeply in love with this man, who has HIV as well, but the man died from brain cancer due to HIV. He thought his life was over, but he picked himself up (somehow), and he survived this dreadful period. At last, he met this man and fell deeply in love. The man was HIV negative. They were really careful in protection so the man could stay HIV negative.

They are now happily ever after. Even though he needs to fight the disease, taking many medicine everyday in order to stay alive, he is the most optimistic and happiest person I've ever seen. He did have his tough time, but he pulled through. That's the energy that we should learn from. It's easy to fall down and never stand back up. That's why it takes so much courage, faith and love to stand back up. Never look at your cup as half empty; always look at it as it's half full or even so spilling.

p.s. sorry if it's long

  1. I agree- what defines us is how well we rise after falling.
