Day 61: Day 15 in MOWI
- Nutrition Intern Meeting
Journal review about more than one cup of coffee decreases the risk of stroke. In the health field, dietitians have the most continuing education to do. I think mainly is we (I HOPE!) need to renew the license every 5 years through conferences and readings. That makes us one of the smartest in the health field. That made me wonder why doesn't doctor need to renew their MD. They could treat the same thing over and over, but do not know the basic then (?). Sherry kept saying we are Type A people and high achievers. For now, I don't know if I'm a high achiever. I have high standards for myself, but these standards often fall once I cannot reach the usual goal. Well, that is usually because the goal was set too high or basically unachievable. I need to make realistic goals.
- Food Bank Meeting with Sam
Got a schedule for the Tarrant Area Food Bank Project Plan. The goal of the plan is to develop a system whereby partner agencies will be able to access nutritional information of products at TAFB. This will be a very interesting and challenging task. We met with Beth to understand the MOWI ordering process and saw the problem that they are having. The database does not show any description of the food, even the brand. This causes problem for ordering in MOWI as we do not know what the nutrition values or ingredients in the food. Being able to use the food in the Food Bank will greatly cut some cost for MOWI. Of course, we will need to know how does the technology work behind the database in order to attack the problem.
For this project, I will need to attend two 5-hour training with the food bank to learn about the overview, safety and systems of Food Bank. Review online ordering system and system process and consultation with expert in supply-- chain or system management.
- Emergency Preparedness Plan Meeting with Bianca
Went over the script for the video. Bianca doesn't really like the humor (?) of it. I will need to make the revision and send it to her by Friday ><.
- Finished the schedule site visits
- Ate at Yutacan Taco Salad -- had a burrito bowl. A burrito bowl that is much better than Chipotle. The chicken in Chipotle is chopped, but here is shredded. I love the texture of the fish. Everything is sliced very thinly. Thin slices of the carrots, cucumbers and chips on the top made the whole very fresh and crunchy. The mild sauce is perfect for me as I can't stand spiciness. I am a little disappointed with the rice as it becomes soggy when it's at the bottom of the bowl with the sauce. I wish I could taste each rice if that makes sense.
Note to self: Must begin the portfolio!!!
